I read a post by Dr. Osaz and the post was so simple but thought provoking. Being a while that I shared something on steemit, I decided to share something along the line he wrote about.
What story are you telling yourself?
The world (your past & present experience) may be selling to you stories of 'not good enough' or 'being cursed' or 'nothing good is coming out of this' and when you look around, it seems they are true.
Guess what? Personal experiences have done same thing in the past to most global icons who defied and rewrote their stories. Here are two of such:
1. Sexually, verbally, and emotionally abused severally at a very young age (raped at least once a week till the age of 18) by her father; went through school broken, ashamed, lonely, and unworthy; had an unsuccessful first marriage; and financially broke a couple of times.
Joyce Meyer however refused to accept the story of pain and shame the world was trying to paint to her. She rewrote the stories of pain to that of purpose (with God's word) that she repeatedly said to herself till she could feel them and become them.
Today, she is unarguably regarded globally, as the most renowned female preacher cum speaker.
2. Born into a very poor family; unacceptable by many schools; rejected by Harvard 10 times, turned down at 30 job interviews; and was the only one unsuccessful at a KFC job interview.
Jack Ma however chose not to embrace the stories of failure, and 'not good enough' that the world wanted him to believe about himself.
He rewrote the stories to that of 'I'm good enough' and continually told himself this till they became his reality in belief, actions, and results.
Today, he is the richest Chinese and the founder of alibaba.com, the world's largest e-commerce platform.
So, may I ask you again:
What story are you telling yourself as a result of your past/present negative experience?
What great things would you have achieved if not for the 'I can't' or 'I am not good enough' stories your experience has scammed you with?
YOU ARE NOT YOUR PAST! That's why you are not a 'human been' (a past participle)- you are a human being (in a present continous tense). You are your bright future! Start living it NOW!
You can only stop yourself if you choose to. Be unstoppable!
