The alternative self help guide. A series.... Part 1 - Laughter.
In these series of 'the alternative self help guide's', I'll be looking at things a little differently from the conventional perspectives offered in the 'self help, make me millionaire', industry..
In this series, I'l be looking at all different types of issues that people have in their lives, and, by taking this alternative, radical new approach, it might help individuals to see things in new light.
Seeing things from a different angle can help them to open doors that (for whatever reason) they were unable to open before.
People come in all shapes and sizes, and they all come with their own unique story.
There are some things in life however, that seem to be common to all people.
Fear is one of those commonalities.
So is laughter.
Everyone has fears.
Not everyone laughs.
In the first part of the alternative guide, laughter is the subject that we'll be discussing, as this is one of the fundamental foundational structures of this ground breaking philosophy...
Laughter.
Laughter is one of the distinguishing features of human beings, but little is known about the mechanisms behind it.
Laughter is not just limited to communicating things that are funny.
It can be used to cover embarrassment and other social discomforts also. ...Like farting loudly in the company of the 'in-laws' that you've just met for the very first time. Especially if it stinks to high heaven.
Laughter may have evolved to facilitate bonding across large groups of people, but most probably not .
It turns out that it was just pure speculation offered by a social scientist called Tim, who'd been given a grant to conduct some research on the subject, and couldn't come up with any better ideas.
It was also posited that laughter, as well as speech, enables us to bond quickly and easily with a large community.
But that may be total bollocks as well.
The truth is, we don't know.
The benefits of laughing until you pee yourself.
Laughter is not generally under voluntary control (a little like bladder problems in the over 60's) , but it's been shown to have numerous health benefits.
Laughing that is - not peeing - although not peeing is known to be a very unhealthy to try.
You could drown, for example.
Good hearty bouts of laughter can boost the immune system, relax muscles, aid circulation, and protect against heart disease.
It also helps mental health.
It's actually a lot more than just helps in fact.
Recent studies have shown that if you can't laugh very much, you're already completely nuts.
Plus, if your mental health is non existent, pretty much the rest of you is to.
Laughter can lower anxiety, release tension, improve mood, and make you grow in height, by at least 31.76%.
Being able to have a good laugh can also aid in promoting healthy sexual relationships. (who's gonna sleep with you if you can't make 'em giggle?)
*there will be an entire post dedicated to the sexual side of things.
A hearty chuckle releases endorphins, which are 'feel-good' neurotransmitters.
They have an effect similar to narcotics and crypto trading, and endorphins are part of the reason laughing is so contagious. As is crypto trading.
Laughing also helps as increasing blood flow and improving physical resilience.
In fact, it’s not unlike an extremely vigorous workout session.
Scientific studies have shown that spending two hours a night sat down in a sedentary position and staring at humorous memes on social media, has the equivalent health benefits of running 12 kilometres.
And you don't even have to leave the house, or get on the treadmill (that no one ever uses once they've purchased) if you happen to have one .
Disclaimer: Looking at @frot 's funny memes may be the equivalent of running approximately 6.456 meters.
If we’re too busy, too cynical or too grumpy, you might find laughter and humor a difficult thing to see in your day to day drudgery - yet being able to finding laughter in the simple things in life things can make life itself feel much more manageable.
How?
...It helps to alleviate the pressures of the day-to-day grind , such as having to go to work every day to pay off that crushing debt that you opted into.
Studies show that there's a direct correlation between those with the least sense of humor, and those that are employed and have crushing, soul destroying, debt .
Contagious laughter... (no antibiotics required).
It's well known that if one person laughs, the next person does so as well, even if the joke isn’t that funny - although any person laughing at an unfunny joke, is also known as 'a total fucking idiot'.
Sex (again).
There's plenty of evidence that shows how being funny makes a person more attractive.
(Even @lucylin gets laid, and he's as ugly as an Orc on a bad skin day - but he does know how to make the girlies giggle).
...Not only that , scientific studies have that women with partners who have a great sense of humor, also enjoy more orgasms!...(It's very hard to imagine no laughter in the bedroom and cumming your brains out as well).
And finally...
Funny people are considered to be more intelligent, which is pretty logical if you think about it.
Intelligent people aren't spending all their energies being preoccupied with trying to look intelligent.
In my next post, we'll discuss fears, and how to face your demons.
(And I don't mean your partner who may not have had an orgasm for four years, but your own inner demons).
Alternative self help pro tip:
If you're learning how to see the fun in life, look at yourself naked in the mirror (after a long nights drinking with hardly any sleep) and say to yourself - 'I'm looking hot'.
Repeat this each and every morning, until you lose total bladder control.
*not advice for the over 60's.
