Today I want to share with you what Sugbusog Garden is all about.
Last Thursday we went to our barangay hall to file for our livestock and my father-in-laws' mini rice fields yearly insurance. As I'm waiting for our turn I notice this little garden on the opposite side of the venue.
This is called a Sugbusog Garden in Cebu or Sugbuanong Busog, Luwas ug Himsog. It's a Cebuano term that is aimed to enhance food production in the countryside and to encourage non-farmers to grow vegetables in their backyard. They also initiated a contest of garden making by barangays, schools, and towns.
I have been knowing this program was initiated by the Department of Agriculture region VII a long time ago but it is just now that I find time to take a look at our barangay Sugbusog Garden and now I want to share it with you.
When entering the entrance it says that "Welcome" to Tunga Sugbosog Nursery and you can pass by banana trees and spinach climbing on a trellis but spinach looks matured they're baring seeds already.
At the left corner, there are containerized eggplants, tomatoes, long chillies, bell peppers, water spinach, and lemoncito.

At the other corner, you can see those lively green petchay, another set of eggplant and newly seedlings of chillies.
At the end of the garden, you can see those jackfruit seedlings ready for replanting.
Nowadays, I constantly wanted to do as much improvement for my garden and to my surprise, I just know that aside from growing my vegetable garden from the kitchen trash and also now I'm getting weird I like to find vegetable junk in the market whenever I passed there. I just know also that I can ask some seedlings from our government Sugbusog Gardens from a farmer I talk to a few days ago.
Now they are making a garden contest for each resident in a particular barangay and I already signed up for my entry so these days I'll be busy with my garden chores and I have a plan to visit the town Sugbusog Garden this day to ask for new seedlings.
