I've been looking back over my last two years doing my thing with the deep sea fishing and there is definitely one trip that stood out for me. Guinjata Bay, Mozambique!

To describe this place there is only one word... Paradise.

Crystal clear water, beautiful white Sandy beaches full of sea shell's. The view from the balcony where we stay is also breath taking. The ocean as far as you can see and hills full of tall coconut trees.

Guinjata Bay is known for whales migrating there after giving birth to keep their babies safe in the shallower water. Oh my what a sight a couple of hundred of mom's with their offspring close by.

Fishing in Guinjata Bay is amazing! There are lots of game fish around and it was here that I met my match!

We were jigging on a deep reef when I went on with a massive pull. Knowing my luck I thought it would be a shark of course.

The fish gave me proper gears. I gave it my all even with hands cramping and arms shaking.

I fought my heart out as I watched the colors on my braid inch it's way back onto my reel. I had it's head turned and I was winning the fight.

On my last 10 meters of line the monster giant travelly or known as GT's became visable. Our skipper was so excited by the size of this fish but I was suffering. By now it felt like my hands and shoulders were on fire.

The fish saw the boat and decided that he was going to have one last run to get away. That GT took off swimming down in the hope to get me reefed and cut the line.

I felt like crying when I saw all the braid that I had just fought so hard to retrieve dissappear back into the blue.

One last fight but I was not a match for this fish. My rod slipped out of the bucket and I snapped the leader line.

I was a broken woman, relieved but broken. Tug of war with a beast can take every ounce of your energy.

Soon I'll go back and see if with more experience and better equipment if I can land a big GT like that.

We fished with a fantastic charter called Prime Zulu. Tarreck knows the reef structures and the areas so well that he has no problem getting you onto the fish. I would recommend them to anyone looking for a quality experience fishing in Mozambique.
