The end of the Flash Player has been certain for around 2.5 years. In mid-2017, Adobe announced that support for Flash would be discontinued at the end of 2020. This was already urgently necessary at the time, because Flash was becoming less and less of an innovative standard and more of a security risk. Moreover, Flash was also technically outdated.8
But since Flash was still very widespread at the time, Adobe decided on a gradual end. Browser and operating system providers have therefore gradually reduced support for Flash over the last few years. In recent months, Flash users have received more and more warnings in Chrome, Firefox & Co. indicating the impending end of support. The Flash Player itself also called for uninstallation.
