Hello, fellow Steemit users and Blockchain Community!
In case you were wondering, the guy making the silly face in the photo above is Miguel Morales, our CTO and Co-Founder, and yes, we dig his glasses too. :)
At this point, you might be wondering...
We created Lucidity in response to some very real endemic problems in the online Marketing industry. As the largest ad industry in the world, which will see some $120 billion dollars in spending by 2021, there is a startling amount of unnecessary complexity and opacity between marketers, publishers, and consumers.
If you're spending money on digital marketing, its important to be sure you are getting your money's worth, which means the data you receive shows you're reaching your consumers and getting traffic from your ads.
This is where the problems begin.
Data gets trapped in black-box services (data goes in, reports come out) and there is no proof-of-work happening-- marketers simply have to trust that reports are accurate. And when you're working with programmatic ad buying, your data flowchart begins to look impossibly convoluted:
Incomplete and inaccurate data are now commonplace in the online marketing world, and the problems are only getting worse. Skyrocketing rates of fraud have caused many to call the industry a ticking time bomb.
Online advertising fraud is costing over $16.4 billion dollars globally, major brands are pulling millions of dollars from online marketing, and even Google is refunding customers for fake traffic. Something must be done before the internet becomes a classist oligarchy where all information is hidden behind paywalls and subscriptions.
We are passionate about keeping the internet and all its resources open-source and accessible to all, as the democratic system of sharing information it was intended to be.
