"It is he who wears the shoe, that knows where it itches." The truth in that sentence cannot be ignored. If you don't understand a situation, you cannot be of help.
A friend got duped some time ago, everyone around him knew he was being duped, everyone but him. He believed so much in the deal, and even when it became obvious that he had been duped, he just couldn't let go, he kept throwing what was left of his savings at it, borrowing more and more money from people, and wasting it on the bad deal. One day I asked him why he was being so stupid, and wouldn't stop, he told me that he couldn't let it go, after everything he'd put into it. Then, I understood.
Mistakes come in different shapes, forms, and sizes and so do the lessons they'll teach. Some mistakes take up so much time, and so much resources, and when it becomes clear that we'd made a mistake, it's hard to grasp reality. We really should just learn the lesson and move on.
Don't cling to a mistake, just because you spent a lot of time making it.
