This was the entrance that you first see when stepping foot inside the Eltz Castle.
It’s a cobblestone road that flows underneath the arch and welcomes you into the courtyard of the castle. There are many visitors here so if you’d ever want to visit I highly recommend going on a weekday rather than the weekend like I did.
On the left side is a wonderful view of the valley below, which is surrounded by a lush green forest and a river surrounding the castle. Following the path and heading downstairs, there’s a modern restaurant where you can enjoy great food while being surrounded by a beautiful atmosphere.
Opposite that is a gift shop which includes a €2000 set of knight armor! Here it is in all its splendid glory. I ended up buying a small knight from here as I couldn’t pass up the opportunity.
