Today's story takes you on a discovery of the beautiful Angera Castle and its surroundings.
We are in Italy, on the shores of Lake Maggiore, in the province of Varese.
The Castle is one of the best-preserved medieval fortifications in Italy, still inhabited by members of the Borromeo family.

La storia di oggi vi porta alla scoperta del bellissimo castello di Angera e dei suoi dintorni.
Siamo in Italia, sulle sponde del Lago Maggiore, nella provincia di Varese.
Il Castello è una delle fortificazioni medievali meglio conservate d’Italia, tutt’ora abitato da alcuni membri della casata Borromeo.
The castle's origins date back to the 11th century, and its rooms are like a museum.
Inside, we find an important 14th-century fresco attributed to Giotto, a beautiful collection of furnishings, antique weapons, and the famous Doll Museum, which I'll tell you about in an upcoming post because it's truly remarkable (it houses over a thousand pieces!).
The castle garden is also worth a visit, featuring delightful flower-filled terraces, English lawns, and centuries-old trees.
From the windows, you can enjoy one of the most beautiful views of Lake Maggiore, overlooking the opposite shore.
Le origini del castello risalgono al XI secolo e le sale sono un vero e proprio museo.
Possiamo trovare un importante affresco del 1300, attribuito a Giotto, una bellissima collezione di arredi, armi antiche e il famoso Museo delle Bambole, di cui vi parlerò in uno dei prossimi post perché è davvero molto importante (custodisce oltre mille pezzi!).
Anche il giardino del castello merita una visita, in quanto si trovano deliziose terrazze fiorite, prati all’inglese e alberi secolari. Dalle finestre si può scorgere uno dei panorami più belli sul Lago Maggiore, con vista sulla sponda opposta.
What fascinated me most about Angera Castle is the perfect blend of art, history, and landscape.
The surroundings are equally beautiful. Not far away is the Ticino Valley Regional Park, a natural oasis perfect for hiking or biking.
Furthermore, the historic village nestled at the foot of the castle is definitely worth a stroll.
La cosa che mi ha affascinato di più del castello di Angera è il giusto mix tra arte, storia e paesaggio.
I dintorni sono altrettanto belli. Poco lontano possiamo trovare il Parco Regionale della Valle del Ticino, un’oasi naturalistica perfetta per escursioni a piedi o in bicicletta.
Inoltre, il borgo storico che si stringe ai piedi del castello merita sicuramente una passeggiata.
I would recommend a visit to anyone near Lake Maggiore.
