I'm joining the Charactober character design challenge for the Draw A Day community today there's no time to waste the challenge had already started and my excitement is over the roof. The prompt was leaf sorter, and the goal was to design a character completely around their job. I love how this busy little professional take shape right before my eyes as I inked her details in quick strokes.
My Creative Process
I am still using hand drawn aesthetic as I had always been. I want to keep the focus on her organized personality and job-related gear if I can think of sny. I am just so happy with how her clipboard and autumn palette came together without delay or stalling on my part. I managed to nail the details before I got lazy so to speak.
- The Professional Uniform: Designed a cozy layered outfit with rich autumn tones, complete with cute insect antennae to hint at her meticulous nature. Always buzzing like a busy bee
- The Clipboard Check: Added a tiny clipboard featuring her sorting checklist to show she takes her leaf-categorizing duties very seriously. Like size shape and conditions
- The Leaf Bundle: Sketched her holding a fresh batch of oak leaves, ready to be sorted by shape, color, and size.
It is always such a joy building a character entirely from a single job description is it not,? Seeing her come to life on the page makes me so excited for the rest of the challenge. Hope I can finish more.
