Sadly my childhood dog Quincey passed away 11 years ago, he was a rescue dog, so was quite troubled. It took me one month to get off the dinning room table as I was so scared of him, my dad had to give him a treat every day to avoid the growling and any person entering the house had to go through the ‘routine’ to make him feel at ease. This was sadly the outcome of years of abuse.
We turned that around though, after 5 years he was our best friend, he was finally not scared and could trust us, he could forget the terrible experience he had as a puppy.
Sadly when Quincey passed away, me and my family swore we would never get another dog. Nothing can replace Quincey and we don’t want to feel that type of sadness again when they part us.
....2 weeks later, my auntie called, would we be interested in meeting a litter of puppies. Her friend to her surprise after 5 years had mated. She didn’t think possible as one dog is a Border Collie and the other a Shiah Tzu.. but it happened.
We instantly fell in love with this puppy and had to have him, Bailey is now 10 years old and still looks and acts like a puppy. The bond you have with a dog is truly special, they know when you’re happy, sad, unwell they are always there for you.
More photos of Bailey to follow, are there many other dog lovers here?
