I know I said I would post an update when I arrived but I have been sick and it has been very busy around here. The trip from Hope, BC to St. Paul Alberta was a grueling 29 hours. Below is a a bunch of photos of the journey. At fist the weather was very wet and we made pretty good time. Around dusk, as the temperature was dropping below 0 degrees, we hit a patch of ice while traveling around 80 kph. We turned sideways and crossed the road, thankfully there was no oncoming traffic at the time, unfortunately it looked like we were going to go flying off the bank into the blackness. I fought to get the truck spinning in the other direction in an effort to stay on the road and as it started to whip around i was able to compensate side to side to correct the spin and regain traction. Once we got back to our side of the road we stopped and had a breather. From there we traveled very slowly for the rest of the night, stopping to let others pass rather than risk another spin out. I do have winter tires but I guess they were no match for that ice.
We all slept in the truck for a few hours that night in Jasper at a pull off. The next morning brought sunshine and smooth sailing. We stopped for hot dogs and eventually arrived at our destination safely. I was a little upset to see all these oil refineries dumping whatever that is into our atmosphere, maybe I am overreacting...
