Members of the lost generation seek to find an identity that may not be their own. Whether they do this out of a lack of identity or societal pressure the fact remains that they are longing to be what they are not. It is important to walk our own path and not fall victim to our surroundings or temptations. This all goes back to cause and effect or being the author of our own surroundings. Too often we lose sight of the fact that we manifest our own reality; When this happens we become subject to fate or our surroundings. At times there can be grievous costs associated with walking in shoes that aren't yours or caving to pressure from others. To some, acceptance is like a drug, to be acquired at any cost. Do not let yourself become that person, be proud to walk your own path, be proud of what makes you an individual. In my own life, maintaining my personality/individuality has become a key component to my story.
This article was inspired by the rise and fall of a rapper (not very good in my personal opinion.) From a young private school student, to a rapper, to a man with 69 tattooed on his face and desperately trying to be a gangster. Don't let your desire for attention make you wind up in the custody of the state like this poor young wounded soul.
