Do you love money ?? I am sure if they ask everyone on earth if they love money , I believe that at least 90% of those asked that question will say a big YES!! That shows how important and good money can be , money can be used to take care of our needs and even some of our wants and that shows that money is a necessity in life.
But as sweet as money can be , it can also ruin a friendship if care is not taken.
So I used to have this childhood friend that we both grew up in the same neighbour hood , we went to the same primary school , we went to the same high school and even when to the same college together which was something we both planned , we did not want to separate from each other and so we both agreed to ensure that we end up in the same higher institution , and even after graduation we remained friends , but guess what ?? The force of money destroyed a friendship of more than 20 years..
This is how it all started.
So at 2020 during the covid19 issue that shook the whole world , I got a call from this childhood friend of mine and he asked me to borrow him some money which is 140000 India rupee (approximately $1700)..Here in India the money is enough to pay house rent , pay electricity bills , pay school fees etc....I did not have the money at that time , so I explained to him that I was broke at that moment and I could not afford what he was asking for , that what I can afford is less than $200 ..He kept insisting that the $1700 was what he needed urgently and so he dropped the call angrily or let me say that was my assumption.
Because he was someone I like so much and we have been friends for several years ,i called him back and told him that even if I do not have the money with me , that maybe he should go to a loan shark and request for a loan which will cover up the money he needed and that when its time to pay back , we can both be hustling together till we can raise money to pay back the loan ..he said he has no loan shark to go to bla bla bla , well so I told him that I will try to look for a loan shark or a microfinance bank that will help us with the loan , how we will pay back I do not know but I believe we will be able to pay back if we hustle back for the money....so i decided to go extra-mile by going to meet a loan shark and decided to borrow the $1700 so that my friend can use it to take care of the emergencies that made him need the money..
well to cut the long story short ,the loan was granted and he got the money and he used it for the emergencies according to him , fast forward to some months later , we have not fully paid back the loan but in my own capabilities I was able to raise around 40% of the money singlehandedly, so I called my friend that it is remaining 60% for the money to be complete to pay back the loan , and so I told him he should bring his own contribution so that when we add it together it will be able to pay most part of the loan , guess his response ?? He said since I have hustled for the 40% , that i should go ahead to hustle for the remaining 60% , and I replied and said what if the loan sharks comes disturbing me concerning the loan , he replied "That is your problem "...I felt so angry , sad , disappointed , shocked etc..I was really heartbroken , not because I cannot raise the remaining 60% , but because I am shocked that someone i call my best friend could be letting me know that he does not care if I face any problem , and to make matters worse , it was because of him that I requested for the loan , it was not for myself but for him...smh..
Well before the end of that year , I was able to pay back the loan to avoid embarrassment from the loan sharks , my friend never called to even ask about the loan or how I solved the issue or if I faced any problem , from that moment I concluded that he is a bad friend that I should stay away from and I did exactly so..I did not talk about the money again and I did not ask him again , I just moved on!!!!! At 2022 he called and started apologising for what he did bla bla bla , anyways i have forgiven him but I made him to understand that I am not interested in the friendship anymore , it is better i stay alone than going into a bad friendship.
