[Zingtober] Day 4: Exotic (Chirple)

Hello @holozing community! I'm Lorentm, a passionate digital artist, and today I'm very excited to share with you my latest artwork for the Zingtober initiative. As many of you already know, Zingtober is an art challenge where every day we create a black, white and grayscale drawing inspired by a different word related to the Holozing universe - today is my fourth day participating and the word of the day is "exotic"!

For this occasion, I decided to create a fan art of Chirple, but with a unique twist: in my interpretation, Chirple combines the essence of a parakeet with the majesty of a peacock. Imagine a small creature, with those large, expressive eyes so characteristic of the anime style, but with a tail that unfurls like a fan full of fascinating details. Each feather of that tail has the typical "eyes" found on peacocks, giving it that exotic touch I was looking for.

When working on this piece, I wanted to capture not only the delicacy of Chirple, but also the strength that emanates from its presence. The contrast between the softness of the plumage and the complexity of the textures allowed me to play with shadows and highlights in a really interesting way, taking advantage of the grayscale to highlight those little details that make this character unique. The leaves falling around Chirple add a dynamic and almost poetic atmosphere, as if he were in full flight or in the middle of a dance.

Participating in Zingtober has been a very enriching experience for me, it is challenging me to explore new forms of expression and to see these characters from different perspectives. I am very excited to continue creating more pieces like this throughout the month, and to share them with all of you.

¡Hola, comunidad de @holozing! Soy Lorentm, una apasionada artista digital, y hoy estoy muy emocionada de compartir con ustedes mi más reciente obra para la iniciativa de Zingtober. Como muchos ya saben, Zingtober es un reto artístico en el que cada día creamos un dibujo en blanco, negro y escala de grises, inspirado en una palabra distinta relacionada con el universo de Holozing. ¡Hoy es mi cuarto día participando y la palabra del día es "exotic"!

Para esta ocasión, he decidido crear un fan art de Chirple, pero con un giro único: en mi interpretación, Chirple combina la esencia de un periquito con la majestuosidad de un pavo real. Imaginen una criatura pequeña, con esos ojos grandes y expresivos tan característicos del estilo anime, pero con una cola que se despliega como un abanico lleno de detalles fascinantes. Cada pluma de esa cola tiene los típicos "ojos" que encontramos en los pavos reales, lo que le da ese toque exótico que estaba buscando.

Al trabajar en esta pieza, quería capturar no solo la delicadeza de Chirple, sino también la fuerza que emana de su presencia. El contraste entre la suavidad del plumaje y la complejidad de las texturas me permitió jugar con las sombras y los brillos de una manera realmente interesante, aprovechando la escala de grises para destacar esos pequeños detalles que hacen único a este personaje. Las hojas que caen alrededor de Chirple añaden una atmósfera dinámica y casi poética, como si estuviera en pleno vuelo o en medio de una danza.

Participar en Zingtober ha sido una experiencia muy enriquecedora para mí, me está retando a explorar nuevas formas de expresión y a ver a estos personajes desde perspectivas diferentes. Estoy muy emocionada de seguir creando más piezas como esta a lo largo del mes, y de compartirlas con todos ustedes.

In a hidden corner of the Holozing world, there is an enchanted forest known as the Whispering Forest. In this magical place, lives Chirple, a parakeet with a peacock tail that glows with iridescent colors. Chirple is no ordinary bird; he is the keeper of the forest's secrets. Every feather in his tail tells an ancient story, and his melodious song has the power to soothe restless souls. Forest dwellers turn to Chirple for advice and comfort, knowing that his wisdom and exotic nature are a beacon of hope in times of darkness. With her majestic presence and kind heart, Chirple has become a living legend, a symbol of the beauty and mystery that inhabit the Whispering Woods.

En un rincón escondido del mundo de Holozing, existe un bosque encantado conocido como el Bosque de los Susurros. En este lugar mágico, vive Chirple, un periquito con una cola de pavo real que brilla con colores iridiscentes. Chirple no es un ave común; es el guardián de los secretos del bosque. Cada pluma de su cola cuenta una historia antigua, y su canto melodioso tiene el poder de calmar las almas inquietas. Process / Proceso

Creating this fan art of Chirple for Zingtober was an experience full of creativity, and the process started as always: with a good sketch. My goal was to capture the exotic essence of the character, so I started with soft strokes, looking to define Chirple's overall structure. At this stage, I focused on shaping the combination of parakeet and peacock, making sure the silhouette reflected its peculiar and elegant appearance. Proportions were important, especially with the peacock's long, showy tail, which I had to balance with the budgie's more compact body.

Once I was satisfied with the sketch, I proceeded to the outline. This is where the shapes really start to come to life. The clean, defined stroke is crucial for the character to stand out and have personality. I wanted the outline to highlight the exotic tail feathers, so I made sure to draw each one with attention to detail, seeking to capture the texture and dynamism those feathers deserve. The floral decorations on the head were also a key point, as they reinforce the "exotic" touch I was looking to convey.

With the outline complete, came the coloring stage. Since this drawing was thought in black, white and grayscale, I played with different tones to differentiate the key areas of the character. Instead of bright colors, I used soft shadows and mid-tones to give volume to Chirple's body and make the tail stand out with subtle gradation. This technique allowed me to give it a unique depth, keeping the simplicity of the tones but creating a clear distinction between the body and tail feathers.

The shadow part was especially fun to work on. I applied soft shadows on the body feathers, giving it a fluffier look, while on the tail I focused on using deeper shadows to bring out the details of the peacock "eyes". These shadows not only added dimension, but also helped the texture look more realistic and complex, making the tail look almost as if it was glowing on its own. For the shimmers, I wanted to keep the approach subtle, applying them in areas where the light would naturally hit, such as on the edges of the feathers and on the floral decoration on the head. This gave Chirple a touch of elegance without overpowering the image.

The end result is a Chirple that feels alive and exotic, capturing the essence of the character and the Zingtober keyword.

Crear este fan art de Chirple para Zingtober fue una experiencia llena de creatividad, y el proceso comenzó como siempre: con un buen boceto. Mi objetivo era capturar la esencia exótica del personaje, así que inicié con trazos suaves, buscando definir la estructura general de Chirple. En esta etapa, me enfoqué en darle forma a la combinación de periquito y pavo real, asegurándome de que la silueta reflejara su aspecto peculiar y elegante. Las proporciones eran importantes, especialmente con la larga y vistosa cola de pavo real, que tenía que equilibrar con el cuerpo más compacto del periquito.

Una vez satisfecha con el boceto, procedí al delineado. Aquí es donde las formas realmente empiezan a tomar vida. El trazo limpio y definido es crucial para que el personaje destaque y tenga personalidad. Quise que el delineado resaltara las plumas exóticas de la cola, por lo que me aseguré de dibujar cada una con atención al detalle, buscando capturar la textura y el dinamismo que esas plumas merecen. Las decoraciones florales en la cabeza también fueron un punto clave, ya que refuerzan el toque "exotic" que buscaba transmitir.

Con el delineado completo, llegó la etapa de coloreado. Dado que este dibujo fue pensado en blanco, negro y escala de grises, jugué con distintos tonos para diferenciar las áreas clave del personaje. En lugar de colores vivos, usé sombras suaves y tonos medios para darle volumen al cuerpo de Chirple y hacer que la cola se destacara con una gradación sutil. Esta técnica me permitió darle una profundidad única, manteniendo la simplicidad de los tonos pero creando una clara distinción entre las plumas del cuerpo y las de la cola.

La parte de las sombras fue especialmente divertida de trabajar. Apliqué sombras suaves en las plumas del cuerpo, dándole una apariencia más esponjosa, mientras que en la cola me enfoqué en usar sombras más profundas para realzar los detalles de las "ojos" de pavo real. Estas sombras no solo añadieron dimensión, sino que también ayudaron a que la textura pareciera más realista y compleja, haciendo que la cola se viera casi como si brillara por sí misma. Para los brillos, quise mantener un enfoque sutil, aplicándolos en las zonas donde la luz naturalmente golpearía, como en los bordes de las plumas y en la decoración floral de la cabeza. Esto le dio a Chirple un toque de elegancia sin sobrecargar la imagen.

El resultado final es un Chirple que se siente vivo y exótico, capturando la esencia del personaje y de la palabra clave de Zingtober.
