The character I’ve reimagined this time is the Male Ocean Healer, and I wanted to give him a bold, weathered look—someone who’s not just a healer, but a survivor of a drowned world. His hair is tousled and pale blue, evoking both sea foam and wind-tossed waves. There’s a star tattoo on his cheek, as if it were a remnant of an ancient tradition or tribal marking from his sunken homeland.
He wears a necklace with an anchor pendant, a symbol of grounding and hope, and a crown made of shells and starfish, like trophies salvaged from the ocean. His jacket is worn and stained, covered in splashes of brown and rust, as if he's been through many storms. A bright blue symbol decorates the sleeve, hinting at his healing powers. Underneath, a deep blue shirt echoes the color of the sea.
El personaje que he reinterpretado esta vez es el Male Ocean Healer, y quise darle una apariencia fuerte y curtida—alguien que no solo sana, sino que también ha sobrevivido en un mundo sumergido. Su cabello es despeinado y azul pálido, evocando tanto la espuma del mar como las olas sacudidas por el viento. Tiene un tatuaje de estrella en la mejilla, como si fuera un vestigio de una tradición ancestral o una marca tribal de su tierra hundida.
Luce un collar con un colgante de ancla, símbolo de arraigo y esperanza, y una corona hecha de conchas y estrellas de mar, como trofeos rescatados del océano. Su chaqueta está desgastada y manchada, cubierta de salpicaduras marrones y óxido, como si hubiese atravesado muchas tormentas. The creative journey started with a loose and energetic sketch. I played with angles and poses until I found a look that conveyed his calm authority. The sketch helped me map out the character’s silhouette and make sure the accessories felt integrated with his personality.
Then came the lineart. I focused on giving the lines rhythm and movement, especially in the hair and clothing. I wanted the crown of shells to feel detailed but organic, and the folds of the jacket to suggest that it had seen years of use.
Once the lines were clean, I moved on to coloring. I chose a palette dominated by sea tones: soft blues, sandy browns, and rusty oranges. Each tone was selected to reflect the contrast between his healing presence and the rough world he inhabits.
After laying down the base colors, I added shadows to build depth. This part is always fun, as it helps the character feel three-dimensional. I emphasized the shadows around the collarbones, the folds of the shirt, and beneath the shell crown to give it volume.
Highlights came next. I used light blues and soft whites to simulate the effect of sunlight reflecting on his hair, skin, and accessories. This helped bring out the texture of the shells and the glint of the anchor pendant.
Finally, I worked on the background. I placed the character on a beach with an old ship behind him and the sea stretching to the horizon. I kept the clouds soft and the sky bright to contrast with the roughness of his clothes, making the whole composition feel balanced yet full of story.
El viaje creativo comenzó con un boceto suelto y dinámico. Jugué con los ángulos y poses hasta encontrar una postura que transmitiera su autoridad tranquila. El boceto me ayudó a definir la silueta del personaje y asegurarme de que los accesorios se integraran con su personalidad.
Luego pasé al delineado. Me concentré en darle ritmo y movimiento a las líneas, especialmente en el cabello y la ropa. Quería que la corona de conchas se sintiera detallada pero natural, y que los pliegues de la chaqueta sugirieran que había sido usada durante años.
Una vez que las líneas estuvieron limpias, pasé a colorear. Elegí una paleta dominada por tonos marinos: azules suaves, marrones arenosos y naranjas oxidados. Cada tono fue seleccionado para reflejar el contraste entre su presencia sanadora y el mundo hostil que lo rodea.
Después de aplicar los colores base, añadí sombras para dar profundidad. Esta parte siempre me resulta divertida, ya que ayuda a que el personaje se sienta tridimensional. Resalté las sombras en las clavículas, los pliegues de la camisa y bajo la corona para darle volumen.
Luego vinieron los brillos. Usé azules claros y blancos suaves para simular el efecto de la luz del sol sobre su cabello, piel y accesorios. Esto ayudó a resaltar la textura de las conchas y el brillo del colgante de ancla.
Finalmente trabajé en el fondo. Coloqué al personaje en una playa con un viejo barco detrás y el mar extendiéndose hasta el horizonte. Mantuve las nubes suaves y el cielo brillante para contrastar con la rudeza de su ropa, haciendo que toda la composición se sintiera equilibrada pero cargada de historia.
