Creating fan art is always an exciting challenge, especially when it involves bringing a character to life in a new and unique way. Hello everyone, I鈥檓 Lorentm, a digital artist passionate about transforming characters into vibrant anime-style illustrations. Once again, I鈥檓 participating in the Splinterlands social media initiative, where I create and share content inspired by Splinterlands on my social media platforms.
This time, I decided to illustrate "River Nymph," a charming and magical character with a graceful and mystical presence. The River Nymph is an ethereal being with enchanting blue and violet hair that flows like water, crowned with a delicate golden tiara. Her large, shimmering purple eyes radiate warmth and kindness, capturing the essence of an elemental spirit. Her outfit consists of a flowing pink and lavender dress with wide sleeves, exuding elegance and fluidity, just like the water she represents. Pointed elf-like ears and an expressive, joyful face complete her magical appearance.
The entire creative process was incredibly fulfilling. Transforming River Nymph into a chibi anime style allowed me to emphasize her adorable and whimsical nature. Seeing how her charm evolved throughout the illustration was truly satisfying. Now, let鈥檚 dive into the creative process!

Soy Lorentm, una artista digital apasionada por transformar personajes en vibrantes ilustraciones al estilo anime. Una vez m谩s, estoy participando en la iniciativa social media de Splinterlands, donde creo y comparto contenido inspirado en el juego en mis redes sociales.
En esta ocasi贸n, decid铆 ilustrar a "River Nymph", un personaje encantador y m谩gico con una presencia m铆stica y elegante. La River Nymph es un ser et茅reo con un cautivador cabello azul y violeta que fluye como el agua, coronado con una delicada tiara dorada. Sus grandes ojos morados brillan con calidez y bondad, capturando la esencia de un esp铆ritu elemental. Su atuendo consiste en un vestido rosa y lavanda de mangas anchas, que desprende elegancia y fluidez, reflejando perfectamente el agua que representa. Sus orejas puntiagudas, similares a las de un elfo, y su rostro expresivo y alegre completan su apariencia m谩gica.
Todo el proceso creativo fue incre铆blemente gratificante. Transformar a River Nymph en un estilo chibi anime me permiti贸 enfatizar su naturaleza adorable y juguetona. River Nymphs inhabit the rivers of the Splinterlands. Shy and reclusive, they usually remain hidden beneath the water's surface. However, they have a strong respect for life, and they have been known to aid those in need. They are also fiercely protective of their homes and will defend it if it is threatened.
Las ninfas de r铆o habitan los r铆os de las Tierras Esparcidas. T铆midas y solitarias, suelen permanecer ocultas bajo la superficie del agua. Sin embargo, sienten un gran respeto por la vida y se sabe que ayudan a los necesitados. Tambi茅n protegen ferozmente su hogar y lo defender谩n si se ve amenazado.
Every illustration starts with a sketch, the foundation of the artwork. I began by defining the chibi proportions, making her head larger than her body to enhance her cute and playful look. I carefully outlined her joyful expression, flowing hair, and dynamic pose to give her an energetic and cheerful appearance.
Once the sketch felt just right, I moved on to the lineart. This stage required precision, ensuring that the smooth, flowing lines captured the essence of the character. The delicate curves of her hair, the elegant folds of her dress, and her lively pose all had to be outlined with care to maintain the softness and grace of the character.
The next step was coloring, where the character truly began to come to life. I chose soft pinks, purples, and blues to highlight her mystical and aquatic nature. Her hair was a blend of deep blue and violet tones, creating a stunning contrast that mimics the movement of water. The dress was kept light and ethereal to emphasize her fairy-like presence.
To add depth and realism, shadows were applied strategically. I focused on areas like her hair, sleeves, and folds of the dress, using soft gradients to enhance volume. The shadows helped define the contours and made the character more three-dimensional.
Adding highlights brought an extra layer of magic. Light reflections on her hair, eyes, and dress gave her a glowing, almost otherworldly look. The subtle sparkles in her eyes and the soft gleam on her clothing enhanced her mystical aura.
Finally, the background was designed to complement her enchanting personality. I opted for a dreamy aquatic atmosphere, with a gradient of deep blue and turquoise, enhanced by soft, glowing orbs that resemble floating water bubbles. This effect made the illustration feel immersive and added to the fantasy theme of the piece.
Toda ilustraci贸n comienza con un boceto, la base de la obra. Empec茅 definiendo las proporciones chibi, haciendo que su cabeza fuera m谩s grande que su cuerpo para resaltar su apariencia tierna y juguetona. Deline茅 cuidadosamente su expresi贸n alegre, su cabello en movimiento y su pose din谩mica para darle un aire en茅rgico y carism谩tico.
Una vez que el boceto estuvo listo, pas茅 al delineado. En esta etapa, cada trazo deb铆a ser preciso y limpio, asegur谩ndome de que las l铆neas suaves y fluidas captaran la esencia del personaje. Me enfoqu茅 en las delicadas curvas de su cabello, los pliegues elegantes de su vestido y su pose animada, manteniendo la suavidad y gracia del dise帽o.
Luego vino el coloreado, donde el personaje cobr贸 vida. Eleg铆 tonos suaves de rosa, morado y azul para resaltar su naturaleza m铆stica y acu谩tica. Su cabello combin贸 tonos profundos de azul y violeta, creando un hermoso contraste que simula el movimiento del agua. Su vestido fue mantenido en colores claros y et茅reos para enfatizar su esencia de hada.
Para a帽adir profundidad y realismo, apliqu茅 sombras estrat茅gicamente. Me centr茅 en 谩reas como su cabello, las mangas y los pliegues del vestido, utilizando degradados suaves para resaltar el volumen. Las sombras definieron mejor su forma y le dieron m谩s tridimensionalidad.
Luego, los brillos aportaron un toque extra de magia. Los reflejos en su cabello, ojos y vestido le dieron un brillo especial, casi sobrenatural. Los peque帽os destellos en sus ojos y el sutil resplandor en su atuendo reforzaron su aura m铆stica.
Finalmente, el fondo fue dise帽ado para complementar su personalidad encantadora. Opt茅 por un ambiente acu谩tico de ensue帽o, con un degradado en tonos azul profundo y turquesa, realzado por suaves esferas luminosas que simulan burbujas flotantes. Este efecto hizo que la ilustraci贸n se sintiera inmersiva y reforz贸 la tem谩tica fant谩stica de la pieza.
Working on this piece was an incredibly enjoyable experience. Seeing River Nymph鈥檚 adorable and enchanting personality come to life in this chibi anime style was both fun and fulfilling. I love the balance between her mystical elegance and playful charm, which makes her a truly special character.
