Hello Gamers around the world,
We all know that the bear market has stalled most of the trading activities, the fear is reasonably dominating the market and everyone is waiting for a piece of good news about cryptocurrency.
But, no worries about the Splinterlands game, as we are playing it regularly and earning some nice focus rewards along with various other rewards in guild activities.
Good and bad things happen in the market, but for a player, the focus always remains on the game and finding ways to lessen the effect of market uncertainty by diversifying our crypto investments.
It is indeed a game of patience and making the right strategies. Hopefully, nothing stays for long and happy days will be here again. Let's cheer up and move on to our Summoner's Edition of the week.
It is very important to analyze your opponent's already played decks which appear on the 'Match Begins' pop-up, these battles give you a good idea about preparing a deck with the most suitable summoner against your opponent.
Here we'll discuss opponents carrying magic attack monsters in their decks and how to defeat them by using an epic summoner from Riftwatchers edition.
Sthispa belongs to the Dragon element and has an epic rarity in Riftwatchers edition. Her story is quite sad and how she grew up as a mage is very heart-wrenching.
She was a child of a Gorgon mother and Naga prince, her mother gave birth to her in prison while her father was exiled to an unknown realm by her grandparents. When her grandparents found out about her physique a mix of Naga and Gorgon breed, they kicked her daughter and Sthispa out of the Den.
Her mother was killed by desert bandits and but it is a mystery forever how Sthispa survived the red-hot desert and grew up. But one-day Sthispa returned to her birthplace 'Sskah' and killed her grandparents. Then she went to the desert to take revenge on the bandits, after killing them she spiked their heads to rot under the blazing hot sun.
Sthispa tried to find her father, but she could not find any trace of his existence. But, one day she stumbled upon a draconic tomb in Centrum City where she collected some dragon bones and different remains of offerings. She made various ornaments and also built a bow from those bones.
She followed the path of dragon magic and became a powerful summoner by studying and practicing magic and battle arts.
As far I know, Sthispa is the only Summoner with "Phase" ability, she applies the Phase ability to all monsters in the battle.
Phase ability enables a monster to evade magic attacks based on Speed and various other abilities such as Dodge and Wings.
The ability does not help in evasion but provides an effect that works similarly to evading melee and ranged attacks in a battle.
Sthispa is a good summoner against battles involving magic monsters, since this card adds a Phase buff to all allied monsters, it does not mean your monsters will be able to evade magic attacks, the relation of evasion and missed hits pertains to speed and additional abilities that provide evasion chances.
If you are using Sthispa against melee or ranged attacks monsters, this summoner will behave like a no-ability summoner. So, only use this card if you feel that the opponent will use magic monsters in the battle.
But, you need to take some measures to effectively receive any benefit from Sthispa.
Note: Hit-and-miss calculation for magic attacks is the same as for melee and ranged attacks.
Battle # 1 Ruleset: Standard
I used the Taunt monster "Agor Longtail" with Void Shield and Wings abilities. You can notice in the battle that Agor's Speed and Wings help him evade a lot of magic attacks.
The monster with lower Speed were missing their hits many times, which helped me win that battle.

Battle # 2 Ruleset: Standard
This battle is also against Earth element monsters having a beefed-up magic attack. I have again used Agor Longtail in this battle, but I have placed a "Creeping Ooze" with Slow ability to reduce enemy monsters' Speed by -1.
Even though the opponent had a Tank Heal monster, my Agor Longtail kept evading their attacks and finally won the battle.

Battle # 3 Ruleset: Standard
Now, this battle is all about winning the odds of evasion and missing hits. I used an Earth deck with only 2 monsters Regal Peryton as a tank and Uloth Dhampir as a backline ranged monster.
The only thing that worked in this battle is the higher Speed and Wings ability of Regal Peryton, you'll see how many times it has dodged the magic attacks of Life Sapper, it's incredible.

Battle # 4 Ruleset: Standard
This is an educational battle just to test the Phase ability's effectiveness using a high Speed monster with Wings, this battle will give your an idea of how Speed and other evasion abilities do matter when using Sthispa as your summoner.
I used Runic Skyclaw card which had 6 Speed and Wings. The monster missed almost all attacks in 2 rounds and got a total of 2 hits in each round. Now you can observe how effective Sthispa can be with higher Speed monsters against magic monsters.
Here is the Battle Link for understanding the Phase abilities magic that works with higher Speed numbers.
I like using Sthispa whenever I fight against magic monsters deck, but as I have told you already Sthispa summoner works best when your monsters possess higher Speed and abilities that help evade or miss enemy hits.
I hope you'll enjoy these Strategies and learn how to use Sthispa against magic monsters.
