I'm not a big fan of algorithms that decide for me what I would like to see, hear or read, based on I already consumed. This reduces the changes of discovering new things.

The alternative is what I covered in the post. No discovery at all.

I personally have no problem whatsoever with algos showing me content based on my showed preferences, my social graph, etc.
Its all out on the open anyway, its not hidden data, its not on Facebook, X servers somewhere...
