I know probably a few thousand D4 reviews already came out and there are a number of quality game reviewers on hive as well so I wont treat this as a review.
I dont play many video games but I did follow the gaming news quite closely before I became a father. I still enjoy them from time to time once the kids go to bed and I have a few hours of peace and quiet.
The biggest obstacle for me with these new games has always been learning the mechanics, I just cant be bothered with it any more. I dont have the patience. I remember downloading No Mans Sky a few months ago to try it out and was done with it in an hour.
I used to love complex games, I still do a Europa Universalis 4 full run every few months but I just cant force myself to commit to anything new. Growing old, I guess.
Diablo 4 played perfectly into all that for me. As someone that played D2 religiously in high school all the mechanics were familiar to me, the skill tree was even more simplistic than what I remember in D2. It was extremely easy to get into and it is fun.
I took it slowly, I completed the game 2 days ago at lvl 50 and now im doing the tree quests.
Played a fire sorcerer to complete the game and now moved to frost since I found an OP build that literally destroys everything in its path in 2 seconds. Ill be trying Nightmare dungeons soon to see whats going on with that and will probably quit afterwards to wait for the the update with new story quests.
Overall Ive had plenty fun but there are some things that did annoy me:
Other than that I would recommend getting the game. The story is clearly just a first chapter of what they want to do with this game but its still compelling enough. And its all extremely gore-filled. D3 looks like a morning cartoon show compared to D4.
