New regulation has just been passed that allows drones to spray for mosquitoes.
“Data gathered from these pilot projects will form the basis of a new regulatory framework to safely integrate drones into our national airspace,” said Secretary Chao.
I personally believe this is a horrible idea and they are just using the "mosquitos" as a trojan horse just to get more and more drones in the sky. Once they are up there they will be able to surveil and gather data on citizens without even getting a warrant, essentially bypassing the 4th Amendment.
“We potentially could be using it more for surveillance and in more isolated areas for treatment missions,” Jackson said. “We’re trying to be as innovative as we can and as efficient as we can. And if this can be used safely, we’re open to anything.”
Regulations like this will be changing our skies forever. Drones will become more and more prevalent and we are that much closer to living in a Minority Report type reality. What are your thoughts?
