Steemit Needs A Native Private Messaging Feature To Be A Success, Spread The Word!
Hey guys, today I wrote a post, the subject of which is irrelevant but you're more than welcome to check it out on my blog but I digress. After writing said post, I realised that I knew of a fellow Steem user who would have been the optimal person to look over and give me their opinion on my ideas and post in general. I was hoping I could do this with a simple private message feature only to discover that Steemit had no such feature. That is excluding the method of sending 0.001 STEEM back and forth with the memo showing in their wallet. This message is also visible on the blockchain log so it's not secure at all.
Due to this I used the Twitter message to message @avilsd.
I think that Steemit has the potential to be a major social network if the developers are dedicated and listen to us users. A messaging feature would be amazing for Steemit, it would open a whole new gateway for networking with your favourite content creators and other beautiful people on this amazing platform. Not only would this open a gate for networking, it could also tie the STEEM cryptocurrency into it by allowing users to transfer each other currency in a sort of chat.
Facebook has a good model messaging system which Steemit could take inspiration from but adapt it more so for the fact that it is a micro-blogging platform.
Either way, if Steemit is to be a massive success, it will have to add, at least a basic, private messaging feature.
EDIT: As @josephd and
@doitvoluntarily pointed out, there's a utility called steemit.chat, thus I've changed the title of the post to Steemit needing a native chat client.
Thanks for reading, please comment your opinions on this idea <3
