Hi guys, this is my entry for the Lifescape Logo Contest. I kept the design simple, and here are the considerations I had before creating it:
What application should I use for the design? I thought of laying out the design in CorelDRAW first and then finishing it in Adobe Photoshop.
First, I thought about the shape I wanted for the logo, and I decided on a circular shape.
Second, I considered what type of logo I wanted, a symbol logo or a text logo, and I chose a text logo.
The third thing I considered was the color, and I decided on yellow gold, blue, red, and black.
Since my logo is circular, I thought about adding a border to the circle. Since the word "tribe" is involved, I thought of making a tribal circle border, so I created a tribal border in CorelDRAW.
Next, I thought about the text to use, and I chose the Magneto font for the word "lifescape."
I started laying out the logo without coloring it first. I decided to separate the colors inside the circle, so I overlapped the text "lifescape" inside the circle.
At that point, I rotated the text slightly to slant it upwards.
I also experimented with mixing and matching the colors of the logo, but I haven't included those details here.
The reason I used a tribal band for the circle border is because of the word 'tribe.' I wanted something symbolic that would represent a tribe.
Secondly, if you've noticed, the logo I created bears a resemblance to the yin-yang symbol. I used two colors separated in the middle using text design. I initially wanted to use only black and white, but it didn't seem appealing, so I decided to try different colors. It just so happened that yellow-gold and blue perfectly represent the colors of the horizon.
The horizon represents a point of reference that guides travelers. Since, to me, life is a journey, I thought of integrating the colors of the horizon into the logo.
It also happened that the shape of the yin-yang is a circle, but I really wanted a circular shape because I believe life is like a wheel; sometimes you're at the bottom, and sometimes you're on top.
This is my final logo. Thanks for providing this contest. I would appreciate any feedback you have in the comment section regarding the logo I designed.
