Adding MORE To The Family!
Today I have added 4x Victoria Plum trees to the collection in the garden! I was so excited to see the package arrive and open it up, it's not christmas already is it? I got a lot more 'bang for my buck' with these plum trees compared to the pear trees, roughly 100GBP got me 4 of these! Not cheap!
The Victoria Plum
This is one of the UKs favourite plums and definitely it's most common. It grows the best in the unpredictable English seasons, so that's why I opted for this fruit! Reliable is the best word i'm looking for. The variety that I decided to go for is the St. Julien given the fact that these are the tallest variety I could find. They can grow up to 4.5m tall! These commonly take a couple of years to crop once they're planted and you can get the maximum yield at around 4 years after planting! These will stay potted down the garden until I find a suitable place for them to be planted! Victoria plums are commonly used to pies, jams or even eat them straight from the tree! Again, I'm sure @rawadventuress and
@ultravioletmag have some delicious recipes for us all!
Final Thoughts
These plum trees will sit nicely next to the pear trees down the bottom of the garden and protected by the greenhouse from the wind. Should they go in the greenhouse? Let me know!
Again, my blog posts have thus far recieved an amazing amount of support both literally and financially! As you can see growing fruit trees is no cheap hobby and the upvotes that I have recieve from pages such as @ecotrain,
@ecoalex,
@naturalmedicine and the rest of the community have been so fantastic. The money from HIVE will head straight back into upkeeing the vegetables and the fruit trees! Perhaps we can all help towars donating some of the fruit and the vegetables that my plants grow, some kind of Hive initiative perhaps? I think
@theycallmedan might like that, he always has his initiatives for
@hiveio on the go! I hope you enjoy this orgional content
