prompt post revised new lmac.jpg

Seven years ago I answered a call from @shaka to have fun and make a collage. This was the first collage I made for LMAC, and boy was it crude. Didn't matter. shaka@shaka encouraged me.

I was hooked. I learned that making collages is fun.

LMAC has been quiet lately. The community seems to need a new way forward. I'm offering that. With this blog, I'm hoping to return to the uncomplicated concept with which Let's Make a Collage began. The only rule for joining in the fun will be that the collages be original and that they show creative effort.

There will be a monthly prompt, but no contest. Make a collage. I promise to curate every collage. I will offer my personal upvote, as much as possible, and I will support all legitimate collages with the LMAC community vote. Besides that, I will give away 14 HSBI tokens every month. These will be distributed in two-token lots. So, 7 collages every month will be awarded 2 HSBI tokens each. It's a good bet that if there are more entries, others may receive HSBI tokens, also.

The HSBI tokens will not be granted by the LMAC community. They will be my personal gift.

I expect nothing from the participants in the community except that they offer interesting collages. Please do not upvote this post. There is no way for me to access LMAC's wallet so the rewards will just sit there. Please do not assign a beneficiary. I don't wish to take your Hive and if you designate LMAC, the rewards will just sit in the wallet.

I know that when shaka@shaka started this community he wanted to see people be creative. He respected that. I'm still here and I still love the idea of making collages, of engaging with people in a creative way. So I invite everyone to participate, and have fun. No strings attached. Nothing in it for me except the pleasure of seeing the community continue. As was true for shaka@shaka, I like to encourage creativity.

A note about LIL. I contributed many photos to LIL. I've heard there is a problem with its certificate. I know nothing about such things. I can't get the site to load. I loved LIL, but it seems we don't have access to the lovely photos there.

No worries. There are plenty of public domain images available on the Internet for collage creation. Remember--all elements in the collage must be from a public domain site (such as Pexels, Unsplash and Pixabay), or they must be your own photos/artwork. Obviously, no AI-generated work.

The origin of all elements must be detailed in the blog that describes the collage. Along with every collage there must be some description of how it came to be and what it means to the author.

It would be nice if each person who submitted a collage supported at least one other collage each month. This is not a requirement for participation, but engagement really does help to strengthen community cohesion.

So here is a summary of the operating procedures, going forward:

  1. A monthly prompt will kick off the new LMAC round.
  2. I will see that every collage that comes in is curated.
  3. The collages must be original and show effort. Only public domain or personal images are allowed. I will use technology, if it seems necessary, to check on originality of a collage.
  4. Do not upvote the prompt post.
  5. Please do not include me as beneficiary.
  6. Please do not include LMAC as beneficiary. This is not a contest, so no funds are necessary to support the contest and any money that goes to LMAC will just sit in the wallet.
  7. In your post that features your collage, please describe how the collage was created (process) and what it means to you.
  8. You may cross post.
  9. If you don't like the prompt, if it doesn't inspire you, make a freestyle collage. Make as many as you want. The goal is to inspire people to create and to express themselves through collage.
  10. A final very important note: All collages submitted will be in the public domain. They will be free for anyone and everyone to use going forward in any way at all.

If I am forgetting something, please let me know. If only one person contributes a collage, I will still keep the effort going. Everyone is important, and I do love the idea of the community. I do hope, though, that many people join in.

Please note: If things straighten out in LMAC and we get LIL working and access to the wallet, then we can figure out another way forward.

Respect to shaka@shaka, without whom LMAC would never have existed.

***A word about the prompt picture. It was taken by my daughter when she visited the shore last year. Below I've posted a few more pictures, taken on the same day, if you aren't inspired by the top photo.

I don't know if I have ever published these pictures before, but today I am releasing them for anyone to use.
