半山书局更像是一个超市，逛的人比坐着的人多，看热闹的比看门道的人多，坐着玩手机的比埋头看书的人多，有些小学生带着卷子、文具盒，在做题。诚然，半山书局的硬件设施比较好，不用席地而坐，卖的东西也琳琅满目，各种概念前卫的陈设，让人目不暇接。第一次去书局的人眼睛肯定是不够用的，也不知道重点要看哪，只知道哪都好看，都新鲜。但看书的人依然在看书，那种纯粹、专注的状态让人看了享受、羡慕。
常州不是一个没有文化底蕴的城市。但是这些年，常州越来越注重表面文章了，大型商场、城市综合体像割韭菜一样，倒闭一批，起来一批……人们习惯了城市带来的便捷消费，诱惑越来越多，物欲越来越膨胀，但是内心却一点一点被掏空。
