After a week of bad news in the media I was feeling rather weighed down and it is something that I know many others are feeling too.
Anyway, today being friday, I had my last class for the week with my art students and I must say, they really lifted me up.
This class is a very active class - plenty of conversation, laughter and encouragement for one another - and of course, we have music too.
One of the ladies has terminal cancer - the doctor has given her five years and believe me, she is amazing and the love that this group give her, I know makes her day.
There is such a bond between all of them - no one treats her with anything but kindness and she is teased and gives back just as much.
She had us all in hysterics when she told us that her doctor had put her on some cannabis capsules in order to help her sleep at night and how initially, she took too much and described to us how she felt!
Today, she asked me how to mix a certain colour with her oils - which I did, then when I came back to check on her, I saw that many other colours had also been added - so I asked her if she had doubled up on her cannabis last night as she had created something very special. Ha ha.
Much laughter from everyone - but I know that the three hours that we spend together doing art is something that we look forward to and we can forget about all the negative things that life throws at us.
