This is just a small gardening tip.
When young seedlings have been planted out in the garden, watch them as they grow and form top growth.
After a while, the original leaves - now at the bottom of the plants, become yellow and start to die off.
These leaves fall towards the soil when this happens and is the ideal situation for slugs to come and invade your seedlings.
To avoid this, simply take off these bottom leaves, keeping the plant stems clear of the ground - slugs will leave the plants alone.
This method can be applied to most garden plants - and it also helps to keep good air circulation around the plants and will also help to stop any diseases spreading to the plants.
