As Spring is just around the corner here in the Cape, my companion plants are now coming into bloom.
This morning, a beautiful butterfly came and landed on my marigolds - I almost missed seeing it as the colours on its wings were so similar to that of the marigolds - beautiful yellows, orange, golden brown with specks of white.
I rushed to get my phone so that I could take a photo of the butterfly as it stretched out those beautiful wings soaking up the sunshine - but, the butterfly immediately closed up its wings when I got close to it.
Despite the fact that I waited patiently, it refused to open its wings again - hence the photo below of it with closed wings!
Well, I left it alone - grateful that I had at least seen its beauty - the fact that it was camera shy - well, so am I.
Anyway, it is lovely to see all the bees and butterflies coming into the garden to help me with my plants.
