In the dead of the night, I was once again reminded of what a friend said to me a while back:

When hubby's acrobatics kept me awake the second night after his fall, I went online at 3:00 AM and made the appointment with our doctor.
Much to his annoyance, but...it turned out that he had fractured a rib and his arm needed a special dressing, stronger anti-inflammatories, and pain medication, so I'm in his good books again as the intense pain subsides for a good couple of hours!
However, we're not talking about men and their stubborn streak, it's time to go shopping with my pals from Market Friday. The lovely Denise gave us a stunning reminder of Christmas shopping with The day is done.
I'm only now coming up for air after crazy hectic Christmas and New Year guests in our BnB, almost killed me as we had no staff, AND we had exceptionally messy guests this time around!!!
Not impressed at all!
We managed to catch up with old friends at The Mushroom Farm in Hillcrest just before the silly season started, but only had time for lunch at Go Fresh Cafe and shopping for summer gear at Senqu, as we nattered way too much; tons of catching up to do as we had not seen them ever since Covid lockdown!
I was the rebel and ignored the savoury waffle specials and ordered a traditional waffle drizzled with syrup & loads of cream piled high. Unfortunately, the nattering made me forget to take pics of our food!
Right next door to Go Fresh Cafe is The Veggie Store where one finds fresh produce straight from local farmers.
After lunch the two gals went for a stroll through the centre and enjoyed seeing the animals in between window shopping, so you will only see the shop fronts and the farmyard animals.
I got a scolding from one shopper as I snapped the show-off peacock standing on top of her car.
She sharply enquired whether I was snapping her car registration, really weird unless she is up to some kind of undercover activity, so I quickly withdrew after assuring her that I was only photographing the peacock!
Let's go window shopping, starting with GroundCover which offers excellent leather goods.
Loafers, a low-carb superstore, sits next door to Spence and Mae which is a local brand hub style store, with a lovely selection of unique brands and products that are ideal for gifting or to spoil yourself. They had a gorgeous floral display at their shop entrance.
Our favourite casual clothing store Senqu, is a tiny shop filled with good quality affordable gear. Hubby and I both found comfy lightweight Tshirts for us both, shorts for him and a super cool summer dress for her me!
Further along the passage is AE Wright - Antiques, Art Work, Furniture, and collectables. I peeked inside as I just love anything old but the price tags chased me right out the door!
Mrs. Pinkerton sits inside this store, offering vintage goods, and must feel really at home among the antiques!
Shambala is a real esoteric shop, it almost feels like being back in the hippie era once inside there! Does anyone remember tie-dyeing their clothes back in the late 60s? Or am I giving my age away now?
Chickens of all kinds rule the roost - Mother Hen with her chicks sitting on the branches of a shrub, likely trying to cool off as it was a hot sumner day, and a couple of roosters happily minding their own business, likely in search of a juicy worm!
The peacock intimidates the poor goat by fanning out his feathers.
I hope to share more of what's happening inside those stores next time I visit The Mushroom Farm, but hope you enjoyed walking with me and the farmyard animals.
