The last time I was really around here, anyone who joined the Hive Blockchain had to make an introductory post to explain themselves or at least describe who they were. I don't know if this has changed. My own way would be to simply dive in and write a post about whatever I wanted to, but I think an introductory post would not hurt.
My name is Liza. I am a Nigerian-Ukrainian woman living in Germany and it has been five years or more since I posted on Hive. When I was a regular visitor, a lot of people were excited about this platform, a lot of people seemed to be making so much money and talking so much about community and their hopes. Sadly, things went south and the crypto world got so shaken up in ways that appear to be hard to recover and a lot of people left, including me. When I logged into my old account recently, I saw that so many had last been seen 4 years ago, three years ago, two years ago and so on. For me, leaving this platform was not solely because of the despondency I saw all around, it was more because my day job and my Masters program coupled with the changes in my life due to the war in relocation created a lethargic feeling that made me think writing and sharing was all too much.
I am back because my priorities are different now. My life has changed quite a bit. I am now married, I now live in Germany and I simply want to write as a way of self-expression and to create a footprint that would be beautiful to look back at sometime later.
When I was here, I posted a lot of my digital artworks which I confess were created under so much pressure. Looking back at some of them makes me cringe because of how bad they look now in my more experienced eyes. As this is a blockchain where everything stays forever, I cannot delete them but they serve as a reminder of the frenzy of those days. Happily though, I was able to make my first money from doing art with them, so it was not all bad. And more importantly, I really did get better at doing art and I can't wait to share them once again here.
What hive will be for me now is a place to share my reflective essays, my artworks, my musings, my literary thoughts and whatever catches my fancy. I want my journey here to be more intentional and I hope to meet some interesting people along the way.
I am a whimsical digital artist which means that my artworks are fun looking, they are very vibrant and are meant to evoke that sense of play which we seem to lose with age. I used to love painting with watercolor before transitioning to digital art because painting with my ipad just feels more compact and less messy. Digital art is also very forgiving because you can always redo and make make multiple iterations, which can sometimes cause decision fatigue (a minus) when you can't when to stop and declare a work 'finished'. Also, portraits used to be my main subject but I have since transitioned to drawing still life. I especially like drawing animals in colour, but basically inanimate objects are my forte nowadays.
