Yesterday was another normal lockdown day. It started off with an English big breakfast. Honestly, if you're visiting England, you can't say you've been unless you've tried one of these big bad boys. They're greasy, unhealthy and evil, that's why sometimes they're called the fry up. Food rarely taste so good if they're healthy. A traditional full English big breakfast includes bacon, sausages, eggs, baked beans, mushrooms, tomatoes, toast, all washed down with a cup of tea. Mine's scaled down a bit as I didn't buy tomatoes and mushrooms. But boy, was it good!!!

After the fry up, I was planning to nip into the shops followed by the laundry. It's always laundry day when hubby is about to run out of underwear. And that would have been my normal lockdown day had it not been for the men in uniform.....

IT STARTS WITH A FIRE ENGINE

As I was getting ready to leave home, I saw a fire engine pull up outside, and an ambulance turn into the lane opposite. A fire hose was connected to the pump and it led into the lane. I looked around but couldn't see smoke anywhere. What! I've missed out on all the excitement as I was having my big breakfast!!!?? I sent some photos off to my family, everyone was bored off their ass like me. My sister says the lane is a bit rough and there used to be a lot of druggie fights. Well, I don't know much (or anything for that matter) about druggies, but Saturday lunch time sounds a bit early for a druggie fight to me.

More vehicles turned up after the fire engine. First, an unmarked police vehicle and a few policemen came out. I knew because they were wearing badges. A policeman was standing by the entrance to the street, they had closed it off to other vehicles.

CIRCUS

Two more police cars rolled up, followed by another unmarked car, and two ambulances. It was starting to turn into quite a circus!! This is definitely much more interesting than sitting inside a laundrette. Hubby's underwear can wait.

Despite all the vehicles parked outside, it was very calm. The medics stood on the street with the police and firefighter, all looking into the lane. How I wished I lived two doors down.

HAZMAT FULL GEAR

Suddenly the ambulance guys returned to their vehicles, slowly and calmly. A few moments later two reappeared in full hazmat gear, mask, visor, gloves, wellies and all!!! They walked into the lane, one was carrying a yellow backpack and a big holdall. What was going on??!!

Things continued to stay pretty calm, two policeman guarding the entrance to the lane. I couldn't hear any commotion or anything, proving my "Too early for druggies" theory right. Occasionally some passerby's walked past, and they didn't seem fazed by all this. Maybe they have a more interesting lockdown life than me.

CHECKING THE LOCAL NEWS

Half an hour went past and still nothing happened. I checked the local news, they just said a person was rescued in a property fire. That's it, no further information. It did make the headline though!

MEN IN UNIFORM

Then the firefighters came out from the lane. One of them unscrewed the hose from the pump, put the hose on his shoulder passing it slowly over as he walked back into the lane. When he came back out, the hose was gently being caressed into a coil. Now I know why women love men in uniform!

A few more moments later, four medics came out. They had stripped off their hazmat gear. Boy, was I loving men in uniform even more!

No bodies or injured people came out from the lane, that was good. No druggies fight (I told you so!!!) and no one was injured in the fire.

RETREAT

All the service vehicles started to leave one by one, first the police cars, then the ambulance. They reopened the street again. Well, it looks like I have no more excuse to delay hubby's dirty laundry any more.

As I left home, a fire engine turned out from the lane. Probably the same one I saw going in at the beginning.

Now, that's what I call an exciting day for lockdown. Try beating that!!! 馃ぃ
