Hi All,
It's been a while since I posted on this community about the progress of the Cardano project.
Currently we just entered Epoch 12 the Shelly Era, the D value is decreasing, meaning that stake pool operators can produce 34% of the blocks in this Epoch and the federated nodes of IOHK and Emurgo will create 66% of the blocks. As we enter new Epoch's the D value will continue to decreases as Cardano strives for a 'truly decentralized' blockchain. The timetable for full decentralization of Cardano
Cardano Update
There has been significant progress in the Cardano project; as mentioned in my previous post Goguen (smart contracts) is well and truly on it's way by the end of 2020. In the same time research and development on Voltaire (Governance) will begin in parallel.
Project Catalyst is one of the building blocks of Cardano’s Voltaire era, which is expected to bring decentralized governance to the ecosystem. IOHK announced that they will distributed $250,000 worth of ADA to Project Catalyst. These funds will be allocated to Cardano-based projects proposed by the community. For more information on Project Catalyst please visit.
You can submit your proposal on Project Catalyst, it has to be finalized by the 7th of October. IOHK will review and select the top proposals for the community to vote for. Voting on those proposals will commence 21st October, 2020.
Cardano Foundation has been criticised by the community for the lack of leadership and for the project moving forward with adoption etc. This led the Cardano foundation to hire two new employees; Frederik Gregaard has been appointed as the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Eva Oberholzer as Head of Growth. For official announcement please visit.
Those 2 new appointments were very significant to drive corporate adoption and promote application to be built on the Cardano ecosystem. The appointment was critical as Cardano is "transitioning into the fourth phase of its development ahead of the rollout of Goguen – which will usher in smart contracts, greater adoption, decentralized applications, and focus on co-creation alongside enterprises,” according to the official announcement.
I have personally checked out the credentials of Frederik Gregaard and Eva Eva Oberholzer on LinkedIn and both have great CVs working in previous roles.
The newly created role of Head of Growth which is headed by Eva Oberholzer is what I am really interested in. According to the official announcement her role, "will represent all Cardano stakeholders, from professionals and companies to strategic partners and institutions. As Head of Growth, Oberholzer will be responsible for meeting the needs of stakeholders at management level to create new opportunities for Cardano Blockchain".
Stake pool Operator
As I mentioned in my previous post, I have delegated all my ADA to [ACL] A CardanoLand pool ACL stake pool since Epoch 7. My return on investment have been 5.007% p/a - this average is calculated from the previous 30 days. The return on investment is decent for a smaller stake pool. This stake pool operator only chargers 1% on fees, most stake pools charge 3% or more. So lower fees means higher return as long as this stake pool is producing blocks in every epoch.
Love to hear your thoughts on the direction of Cardano? Will the 2 new appointments; Frederik and Eva make a significant impact on adoption? Will Cardano steal some market share off Ethereum?
