Hi all 👋🏻😊

alt

Join me today as we walk along a fantastic WALL with 15 ANIMAL CARVINGS dating back to 1887 - 1889. Its location is next to Cardiff Castle in the city of #CARDIFF in #WALES 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 ~ UK 🇬🇧
I visited this city last Sunday, on my current trip abroad and just had to share it with you 😊 it is so beautiful.

With this post I’m joining in at the Wednesday Walk challenge and Make me Smile challenge. That are hosted by tattoodjay@tattoodjay and elizacheng@elizacheng every week on Wednesday.

‼️Have a look: Here in the Wednesday Walk Community if you want to join in!… the community is run by tattoodjay@tattoodjay.
Look at his last #Wednesdaywalk post.
It will tell you also the rules of joining at the Wednesday walk posts 😁 come join us! It is fun!

Today’s selection will be of 31 PHOTOGRAPHS
Date: 1 September 2023.
The Photographs in this post are all taken with my phone 📱🤓
I will follow the time stamps on them. So it looks like you are experiencing my #adventures on this #walk, to 💃🏻💃🏻💃🏻 #discover everything what I saw, like the little #details seen through my eyes.

Location of this wall we find on the following screenshots on google maps with the yellow star ⭐️ and arrow:

Here you see the location of the wall on the left side of the castle:

Let’s start our walk now to discover what animals we can see on this wall, are you coming along? 😊

As I walk next to the castle (I show you in another post) I can see the start of the animal wall.
alt

Let’s walk closerby 😊
alt

We can see this rather weathered sign 🪧 with more information on it.

More information you can find on the following websites:
Wikipedia: Animal Wall
Have a read… it is very interesting 🧐

Cardiff castle : animal wall

Bute park: the animal wall!

The 3 previous websites are the source of the following short information I will share now.

The original wall was created around 1889, sculpted out of rock and in 1923 it was moved to its current location next to the castle. Around 2010 they restored the animals and added several more animals.

The bottom of above’s sign has all the animals listed.

Here they are in my photos 😎

The first ones we come along… a #lion 🦁 on the right and left side of this entrance.
alt

The #lynx is looking at the distance 😎
alt

Imagine that middle part where the #lynx is hanging over and the animal itself is one piece.

A sneak peek along the wall 😁
alt

The beautiful #lioness is on the corner.
alt

Her claws are so well carved and her face 🦁
alt

Walking further along the wall, come there are many more to see 😊
alt

Next we see a #bear 🐻
alt

You can even see its fur markings…. Wow 🤩
alt

Some of the animals have also glass eyes 👀
alt

The #sealion really seems to come out of the rock.
alt

From the other side.
alt

Another view along the wall, it had just rained but luckily not much more than a drizzle while we are exploring this cool city in Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿
alt

I think this must be the #wolf 🐺 but i am not sure…
alt

The statue of this #hyena is exactly like in real life…
alt

This is one of my 3 favourite animals from this wall… the #vulture. Masterful carved.
alt

The #beaver 🦫is just cute ☺️
alt

Another angle 😊
alt

Next is the #leopard… 🐆
alt

And the cutest couple of #racoons 🦝🦝 again one of my 3 favourite animals on this wall 😊
alt

The #anteater follows 😎
alt

And of course… my last favourite animal of this wall m the #pelican
alt

I just love pelicans… so I was really happy when I found one on this wall here in Cardiff.
alt

Another angle 😇
alt

And again… I just had too hahaha 🤣
alt

This is the end of the animal wall. There is a gate… lets go and see what is there 😊
alt

Entering… we see on the right a tea room, sadly it is already closed as it is late in the afternoon… 17:36h
alt

Bute park is behind this gate… we see the following information sign:
alt

A little bit more about the wall…
alt

We didn’t have enough time to walk through the park as we were only a half day here. The next morning I had to catch a ferry ⛴️ to Ireland, so early up it was…
I will for sure come back to Cardiff to explore the city a bit more and share with you. I liked what I saw so far and hope you did too 😊

…and here I say that’s all for today’s post my friends.
