Our 4 hour train journey from Peterborough, UK 🇬🇧 To Edinburgh, Scotland 🏴
Hi all 👋🏻
As promised I want to share with you all today our TRAIN journey from the Peterborough station, England to Edinburgh Scotland.
On Tuesday 13 April 2022 when we were visiting my husbands family in the UK and we had half way our 2 weeks holiday a little getaway for just the two of us in Edinburgh. 😎
Photographs are taken by my iPhone.
We were dropped off at Peterborough station by my husbands dad after a car journey of about half an hour. 🚗🚗🚗
The entrance to the station where all the taxi’s 🚕 gather.
Let’s walk in.
After finding out the platform our train will leave… we head over to the elevator to go to the other side.
When we arrived at the platform we were early, so I explored the area a bit.
Are you joining me?
Next to us we find another train until it leaves.
The view across the other platforms and the bridge in the distance.
I walked to the end of the platform… as always 😉
Looking back we see the station and another train that just arrived.
After walking towards the other side… we see this view from the station. One train stopped, the right train is traveling.
The Peterborough sign…
Another train.
You must be thinking… when is their train coming. Hhhmmm we waited a bit longer. So I show you some other trains that arrived and left again before ours will arrive. 😎😁
The floor of the platform. You see clearly the zones you can wait. Depending on the seat and carriage you have.
A blue train passes by.
Another Azusa train, no not ours… the next one will be 🤩
The sign tells us it is on time.
Our train will arrive shortly and leave for Edinburgh at 10:18h the journey will be almost 4 hours.
So we decided we go for first class to be a little bit more comfortable during this long train ride. 😊
In the distance… do you see what I see?
A little bit closer…
Our train, yeah!!! 😎
Here it is… let’s jump right in 🤩 and find our seats.
As we notice the train is really busy… I think it is because it is almost easter holidays… I don’t take photographs from our seating area, as just to many people are there. And I don’t want to invade on their privacy.
Let’s go… our journey begins.
Next I show you some photographs from landscapes, towns and cities we pass… even trains 🚂
Green fields we pass…
Another train, we stopped as we needed to wait for something. I took this photograph.
A detail of the other trains wheels.
We are leaving again…
York station…
Green fields with some sheep 🐑
An area were train track repair workers are working/ gathering.
Loads of tracks.
More green fields… as far as you can see.
We are getting some food in the form of a chickpea wrap, drinks and afterwards some chocolate treats… I can’t say no to those… nom nom 🤤
Love chocolate 🍫 🥰
We are passing through Durham.
Then we see a bend in the rails and I can see the front of our train.
More of the bend and train.
Until we go over a bridge.
View that we have while crossing.
A quick photographs across our carriage out of the window across…
The river is the Tyne. The city we are approaching is Newcastle upon Tyne.
The station in Newcastle.
Another train that is waiting to start its journey.
Leaving Newcastle we see these buildings.
A little bit further along our journey… it is 13:28h now.
We are entering Berwick upon Tweet.
Looks really pretty…
We are crossing another river…
Below us we see a ruin.
Some fields and roads passing through…
Are you still with me?
Yes, I know it’s a long journey. But worth it in the end when we arrive in beautiful Edinburgh.
So a little bit longer…
We see this… at the end of a station.
Another train…
The trainyard, a cleaning station we see.
And a train standing at the end. 🚂
Guess what… we are entering Edinburgh now.
We made it 🥳
Welcome to Scotland 🏴
We see the majestic buildings appearing of old town.
Driving into the station…
Our train stops and we get out.
View towards the back. We need to walk quite a bit now into the station as it is a longgggg train.
Above the train we see… Edinburgh castle.
Entering the station hall…
A sign…
Our train… it is now 14:14h so just short of 4 hours our journey was.
As we walk by I take a few photographs of the train.
It is standing tall next to its colleague 😉😁
Bye bye train, thank you for bringing us all the way here.
Let our 4 day mini holiday begin 😊🥳 teaser… it was GREAT!!!
