We describe dreams in vivid visual terms, but every sensory aspect of ourselves is involved. That's what makes them strange. Our entire being is engaged. While dreaming has been equated to out-of-body experiences, the most astonishing aspect is the workings of our own nervous system during that state. It is a neural reality entirely created in the electro-biochemical synaptic system we call the brain. It's incredible, especially when you dabble deeper into the different levels of dreams. Lucid dreaming, for instance. Flying through the air and much more.
But enough about dreams. This is about Nora, who now lies restless in bed thinking about the strange man who gave her a quick kiss, whether real or imagined, she cannot recall. Now in the darkness, she slips between sleep and wakefulness, unable to shake off the ghostly embrace of his existence in the silky sands of the night.
That's why, darling, it's incredible
That someone so unforgettable
Thinks that I am
Unforgettable, too
Unforgettable by Nat King Cole
