This is a very creative story that bring to life a harrowing event as seen from the perspective of the foxes.
I wake up with a start and hear noises outside. I see shadows approaching the burrow and hear men’s voices. And my instinct tells me to stay very still and alert.
I like these opening paragraphs. It brings the action closer to the reader by taking on the persona of the fox. The voice switches to that of the narrator whose perspective add more rich details as in the following paragraph.
"What beautiful little foxes—they’re all black." Magaly was deeply moved, and the other firefighters watched them in amazement because they hadn’t been burned.
This story ended on a positive note with the foxes all grown up. It is very well written, and I particularly like that you based the tale on real life events. Wonderful!
When they opened the cage, the foxes paused for a moment, sniffing the air, and then turned to look at the people who had cared for them.
