There are different styles of homes there, but I would say "west coast" style is predominant. This means a lot of wood (like cedar) and glass for the nice views. I've seen both old and modern. Some of those houses look like they belong to people with $$$ (summer homes or retirement hideout perhaps). There are a lot retirees, new age folk, artists, craftspeople, weedtrepreneurs, indigenous people, hippies, students, fishermen, and so on scattered throughout the Gulf islands, so they're very unique places.
