I installed a Touchscreen DVD and headrest monitors in my 2001 excursion a little while back and thought I would do a little "how to" on the process.
Here are the monitors I picked up ($80 a piece)
First thing is to place the mounting plate and position it where u want it and mark the corners
Then comes the scary part.
No turning back now. procede to cut an X in the middle of the corners you marked, but keep it small. use the provided mounting plate, and cut the X a little larger to make the plate fit move and snug. You will notice on he sides that some foam needs to be removed.
Remove the piece of foam from both sides and place them together
Then place them in the upper section of your cut out to add some puffiness above the monitor.
Take the triangular flaps that were created from cutting the X, and fold them in and away from the hole for the monitor. It's takes some patients to get them to stay tucked back while squishing and wiggling the mounting plate in but once you get it in, get it centered up and install 4- 1/2" self tapping screws into the metal plate of the headrest. Securing the mounting plate firmly to the seat. I had to push and pull the leather a bit to make it look right.
I hadn't already ran a rca video cable from the DVD player under the carpet and put a 2 way splitter as to supply both monitors. As for the power and ground for the monitors I connected the ground to the cigarette lighter in the center console and the power I brought back from the front. (Only powered when key it on)
Removing the cup holder exposes a nice space to tuck all of your wiring.
It took some time to get the wires ran but overall the project probably took about 3-4 hrs to complete. I hope this helps the next person that wants to install monitors in their excursion to do it in half the time.
