The scandal exploded recently though it came out one year ago but just now appeared in the media. That russian embassy employees in Argentina traded cocaine and transported it with diplomatic jets to Russia.

There was a thought mentioned that a big party of cocaine cannot be the first and test one. An amount of 400 kg implies that it was an ordinary delivery with a trustful route.

In fact there are two interesting thing I would like to mention.

First one

... is that they wanted an accountant to be accused of all that. To keep aside diplomats from the embassy in this scandal. The second person to be guilty was a logistics manager. He still has a lot in common with an accountant. Since I worked as an accountant for a very long time I know for certain - we are never part of a team but just administrative staff (stuff according to once made mistake by an HR, though I believe mistake was made accidentally).

I even once worked in a company were salary accountant was taken to court because of fuel stealing (20 000 l). An accountant can hardly take them home by accident. But all the workers really responsible for the fuel new each other so well that nobody of them wanted to reveal each other's crimes. And after 2 month working I saw that there was a very good scheme of stealing and everybody participated in it. Maybe previous accountant was part of that team but for sure she is not the first to be taken to court.

The other interesting thing

... about this scandal story is that all the liberals in russian media do not believe it's true. I do not know how they defend the diplomats in their minds but when I lived in Russia I heard not for one time that the best money are made through drug deliveries on private jets.

They say “Yes, we believe Russian officials to be involved in doping scandal while the previous Olympiad took place in Sochi. But cocaine is too much even for them”.

And why not? I do not see so big difference between officials using their ability to change the results of international sport and officials using their ability to make money (they do it every day in any way they can). This is how Russian authority looks like now.
