Today I came across statistics for intentional homicides in Ukraine.
It's not exactly what I was interested in, but I listened a lecture about society and then it came to my mind that I haven't checked these kinds of ratings between different countries for long, understood that 2017 is over and we have new data and so on.
And I was definitely surprised with the figures - that's how I am influenced by general pessimistic ideas though I try always to make conclusions only from data and not from people's feelings. But this time I failed. I was sure as almost everybody in my country that the war would raise number of murders in the state - because of agression coming with the war, because of weapon coming from the front line... like that.
But... we have the lowest rate of intentional homesides previous year. These statistics (by police ministry) starts from 1997, but we all know that 90s were not the best crime time :)
So we can be glad to have the lowest criminal rate ever in Ukraine.
Still as we can see there was a rise when the war started but now that doesn't influence at all (or maybe we could have even less if not for the war).
