Hello everyone π
Today I found a new reptilian friend, I was in the walk with my human friend and she almost stepped on him - not her fault, little guy was camouflaged in the middle of the forest road , but luckily he didn't got hurt
Little back story
Testudo hermanni
Mostly found in southern Europe, this are small to medium-sized turtles
They can be lager than 18 cm or they can be small as 7 cm
They grow very slow but because of that they live longer, even to 90 years
Most people think they eat fruit but not exactly, in the wiled they will eat it if they accidentally stumble upon it, their diet consists 98% on weeds and plants
Where is the problem?π
People like to take them as pets and here that has become almost impossible π , for both Testudo hermanni and Trachemys scripta
Because when they become to big their owners bring them to the woods and lakes and the population of both species starts to abnormally grow which has impact on the eco system
Even tho that's not good, if you don't have a big garden or a fish pool I rather see them in nature than in a box
It's not there fault, it's our's , we need to change
At the end we just moved him from the path in to the nice bush so he doesn't get stepped on or become someones chew toy π³
Hope you like my post π€
Have a great day and stay safeβπ
