In German we got this mean rhyme "Bassisten sind Statisten"
meaning: bass players are extras (or background actors as you say in theatre).
While there are of course some world famous bass players, the public usually only knows the name of the singer and maybe also the lead guitarist of a band, who often are the same person anyway.
Cait O'Riordan was The Pogues麓 bass player from 1983 to 1986, so she appeared on the first two albums, Red Roses for Me and Rum, Sodomy & the Lash.
Apparently she has survived all the drug and alcohol excesses of her youth pretty well and seems to be a really nice person, as can be seen in the next video.

The Pogues' most commercially successful song, "Fairytale of New York" from If I Should Fall from Grace with God, was written as a duet for O'Riordan and MacGowan, but the band eventually recorded it with Kirsty MacColl singing the female part.
But, by the grace of God and Youtube, I found a demo where Cait sings.
