Yesterday I got a new laptop, so preparing to post more from La Sagrada I ran into some problems... Yeah, a 6 years old laptop is new 馃榾
Normally I would have spent far too long getting fixing what I lack to edit as I think I should, with Photoshop and everything pixel perfect.
Then that damn, old Leica M-8 left dozens of specks in the files, the shutter had shed oil... And that wide angle distorted things for real...
But hey, one of my main strategies now is to work with limitations in creative ways!
That is why I spent a couple of years turning everything on its head, using phones for quick edits. I wanted to get a take on how people who are not photographers get the images they post. It was all about learning to know new tools, really.
So why not test Pinta as my only option for getting these done? Once I decided to try that a lot just fell in place.
Why use transform or distort to get all lines straight when a quick crop and then adding a heavy vignette yields a good result?
The starlight pattern from the 15mm is really something in this shot, if I were to work professionally with architecture I'd have to get one again!
I guess I'll have to hit the publish button right after I finish this, trying to forget about that speck 馃槅
Its interesting how these things work, I wonder how many who will see that speck before reading this?
I have seen real life monitoring of eye movements as part of measuring how ads work, that type of visual psychology is interesting, and integral to photography of course.
I like the tonality in these, maybe I'll do a re-edit in Gimp later...
I don't know what tower this is, but it sure looks like a copy of that huge cucumber in London! Since I lived in London from 2001 to 2003 my mind naturally goes there of course.
There is always a real contrast between La Sagrada and anything around it, it is unique for sure.
I think these sculptures are inspired by plants, but still they are unique for Gaudi I guess. I'd like to see the drawings all of this is produced from.
Maybe I should check him out again, I don't think I have done that after the internet and Youtube started producing so much interesting, new content. He was for sure an enigmatic character...
This is not cropped or straightened in any way. The starlights from the 15mm fit in well here too I think.
I could easily have taken this the other way, with contrasts and sharpening as it came out of the camera it also works, but it gives a very different impression overall then.
There will always be things like this around! In this corner the light just made it work, and adding some vignette was natural.
Now I'll hit that publish button before I regret not taking out all those spots! 馃榿
And that makes it natural that I do a deeper edit on the last ones, perhaps with more content on Sagrada weaved in.
