"Nice." The new kid said to me, his face all bloody as we were walking down the halls. It made me wince. "Thanks, and thank you for err, helping me, I'm so sorry... Are you alright?"
He laughed lightly. "Hehe, don't mention it. And I'm fine... Just a bit bruised and battered.. I think my nose may be broken..." He said touching his nose then wincing. I got a really guilty look on my face. "Do you think I can help in any way? I'm so so sorry.." He smiled. "Don't worry about it." "Kay..." I said and looked away.
Awkward silence... "Though there is something you can help me with.." He said breaking the silence. I fixed my gaze back on him. "I'm Cody by the way. Cody Sanders." He said. "Jessica Grace." I said with a smile. "Sooo, whataya want me to help you with?" I asked. "Well, seeing how I'm new" He paused and smirked at me. "I was hoping you'd show me around." I blushed. "Well, sure I guess." He chuckled and handed me his schedule.
I looked over it and there was something very familiar about it.. "You have the exact same schedule as me." I said looking up from it with a surprised look on my face. "Oh do I now?" He asked, his face brightening up. And a couple seconds passed with us stopped in the middle of the hallway staring at each other.
He was about to wipe the blood with his sleeve again when I stopped him. "You're getting blood all over sleeve." I said frowning. "Yea, so what?" He asked clearly confused. "I'll wash it when I get home."
"Your nose still hasn't stopped bleeding." I said real concerned. Then I gently put my hand on his face and... All the blood started to disappear. His face looked perfectly fine! And the blood was gone from his sleeve too! "Holy crap! How'd you do that?!" He gasped. "My face feels fine! And so does the rest of me! Well, at least I can't feel any... And wow! There's no blood on my shirt either!" He turned to me awestruck.
"Uh..." I said all confused my self. "Well..." He started, getting how he'd just made everything pretty confusing and seeing how I had no idea what had just happened. "Miracles happen right? It's to my advantage, so whatever." "Yep." I said as I started walking again, because at this pace, we were going to be late.
We walked into class two seconds before the bell rang. The teacher walked up to us. "You must be the new student." She said to Cody. "Um, yeah. My name's Cody." He said putting out a hand to her. She shook it. "Hello, Cody." She said smiling. "I'm Mrs.Anderson." She glanced at me. "I see you've already met Jessica." He gave a slight nod. "Well then, go take your seats now." Mrs.Anderson said walking to the front of the class and trying to get everyone to be quiet.
"Good morning everyone. I hope you all had a nice weekend. We have another new student today. This is Cody." Mrs.Anderson announced. "He will be joining us for the rest of the year."
I went and sat down next to my friend, Helen, as always, and Cody followed me and sat in the empty desk next to mine. I smiled at him. He smiled back.
"Turn to page 245 in your workbooks everyone, and we'll get today's lesson started." Mrs.Anderson said as everyone groaned and flipped through their textbooks.
"So, I heard what happened this morning." Helen said with a suspicious look. "You're gonna tell me exactly what happened later because I don't believe it." I laughed. "I don't either, but I'll tell you at lunch."
Helen Blake was my best friend. We've known each other since first grade. Though at that time, we hated each other and had animal cracker wars.
