I played in the disc golf league today. I had a +9 score on the eighteen hole round and fell somewhere towards the upper mid of the lowest division. I know I can play a lot better than I did but it is what it is.
Sometimes it is a game of inches and if your off just a bit it tends to compound on you. I missed several throws by just a little bit hitting baskets and the out of bounds line a few times.
Sometimes it can be a bit distracting if people advance too far after they have thrown and end up in a place where they become a distraction or talk when you are throwning. I'm getting better about tuning that out but I still have a lot to go with my mental game. I felt like I was being a bit impatient too and took a few throws before things had settled down.
It is a difficult decision for me when someone lines up where they are in danger of being hit off the tee. Especially if it is just far enough away so that it is pretty unlikely that they will be hit unless you really, really, have a bad throw. I'm not that good but I have a fair amount of power and if I hit someone at a close range it would be seriously bad. It is just one more thing to worry about off the tee and sometimes it can effect my throw just a bit. I usually don't ask them to move but I think I'm going to more in the future.
In any case, in spite of the rain and wind, it was a really fun round for me. I am enjoying playing in the league more than I thought I would. Next week my son should be playing with me so that will help out a lot. I tend to lean on him for advice on what disc to throw because he seems to know my bag better than I do, LOL.
I was a bit worried I signed up for the wrong division but after today's round it seems like I'm in the right one. I talked to some other people about it and in general you stay on the division you started at until the next event, unless you are really above the other players. Plus I don't have a rating right now and won't until the next time I play in something sanctioned by the PDGA. There is several more weeks in the spring league session.
Fresh cut:
This picture was taken on my recent walk in the woods with Doggie. I'm having fun with the color splash effect and vintage black and white film simulation in GIMP.
Kudos to all the folks who have been maintaining the trails and cutting the downfall. These trails would become difficult to walk on pretty quickly without some maintanence.
Thanks for reading! I always value your support and comments. The pictures were taken by me with my Galaxy S9+. Text and graphics copyright lightsplasher & litesplasher.
