My son and I played a game of nine basket disc golf today. We used doubles scoring and combined effort to get a four under par score. Between the two of us we ended up getting five birdies, one bogie and three par scores on the baskets.
I was making some nice putts and my son was getting in some very accurate drives.
It was a really fun round and I took eleven discs down to play with. I used eight of the discs shown here for the round:
I ended up throwing all three versions of my Shryke disc. It ended up being my favorite for the day. The 175 gram yellow disc fades a lot on me but does not flip up much at all unless thrown into a head wind. I think any disc will flip up if thrown hard enough, especially a slower speed disc that wasn't designed to be thrown really fast. Both of my red Shryke discs pretty much follow the flight path shown at Infinite discs for me. I like the way they flip up just a bit, and travel right then fade back to land almost straight to where thrown.
It has been getting windy this evening and is a bit warmer. I expect there might be some rain tomorrow. Hopefully I can sneak a game of disc golf in if the weather is not too rainy.
I should be getting my new replacement discs on Monday. (They are supposed to be Christmas presents so I'm not really supposed to play with them.) It might be unusually difficult for me to wait that long to start using them. It could snow tomorrow and stick around until spring - I better test them out just a bit. (Snow is pretty unlikely, but sometimes it happens, lol)
Disc golf in the snow is really not much fun. Maybe with the right kind of gloves it might be okay, but for as much as it snows around here investing in special gloves to play disc golf in the snow is not in the budget.
