So I've been researching the free market for a while now and there are somethings that I've learned and would like to share. So often times you will hear people say that Anarchy or total free market economics will never work because you need a state to defend people who can't defend themselves. This is true, kinda. It is true that many members of out society do need protection to maintain safety and happiness and the cannot provide that protection themselves, but abolishing the state does not abolish "police" in fact it makes better police.
When you have companies that are competing for profit through customers they are forced through financial incentive to be the best providers. Whether they are selling pineapples are air conditioners if they sell a poor product or service then their value will decline and a competing company will be favored. My favorite example of this is Blockbuster Video and Movie Gallery, see too many of them kicking around? I didn't think so. You see for a long time Blockbuster Video stores rented movies at the time this was a desired service that people consumed on a mass level. Then... Netflix came. Netflix provided a way better product they have you a blockbuster buffet if you will where you pay a flat fee and watch as many movies and shows as you can. Blockbuster couldn't keep up with the product provided through Netflix so they pretty much went out of business.
So back to cops. In the current standings there is only one organization to turn to when you have a problem the state provided police. This creates a problem, there's no competition if cops do a bad job well sucks to be you. You cannot unsubscribe from there services, if you don't pay taxes you jailed. So you're forced to pay for a service that might suck and if it does you still pay for it. If you had multiple security companies competing for customers and money they would be forced to be the best they can be. If something happened and your provider was incompetent you'd join a new company and subscribe to their services.
Beyond just this you would also have way better cops. It's no secret that the government is outdated and incompetent. a private security company could adapt themselves to whatever area their in. They could offer different plans to different people to accommodate income and they would have strong incentive to be respectful of property rights. If you aren't paying from their service they leave you alone.
