Hi! back to my wanderings in the crypto/hive spheres.
As a newbie to all this talk of tokens and NFTs, I decided to keep a record of my wandering and transformation from a simple Steemit blogger, through my Hive apprenticeship, then post grad learning through Hive Engine and Splinterlands.and beyond.
The most interesting thing has been the opportunity to watch a fledgling global conflict play out through my minor investments.
I could make a lot of money if I was willing to write on the current conflict, but beyond a few news videos and posts from folks in the area here on Hive, I've not too much knowledge on the situation.
All I know is that our oil prices have shot up and crypto seems to be in a nosedive. Shall I panic? No, of course not. Crypto is speculative and once enough folks start speculating on coins and tokens again, things will start to climb. It's a long game if you haven't got thousands to invest at the slightest market change and that 'ain't me!
So I have to make my bucks by posting good, relatable, reliable content about areas I know well and leave the war to the experts or those suffering through it.
What I've been doing to earn a constant dribble of small amounts is staking all the tokens that I have gained over the year, swapped the odd random one for some that are actually worth a few cents and stake any of the daily earnings too.
I do this on Hive Engine and Splinterlands at the moment and have worked my way up to almost 2 SPS per day, free. I drop in several times a day, claim and stake the fractions again. I also get some tiny amount from the daily airdrop but I won't have enough assets to make that worth while for a while.
I mention vouchers because, it will be a loooooong time before I have enough invested to earn enough in the daily payout but 0.136 voucher that I get every day works out to around 1 SPS or 45 DEC which are the main currency in Splinterlands. That's enough to buy a couple of cheap cards every day.
So my Splinterlands value is creeping up. I'm investing HIVE into it with the plan that as Splinterlands assets increase in value, I can start swapping them back into Hive and from there to Power.
I see it as a small income stream that will help me get to my goal of 5000 HP. The reason that I want to get to that level of power is that when it happens, my votes will be worth more to the folks who receive them and I can help other folks get further faster.
My biggest goals are to get at least one bill per month paid off with crypto and to be able to grow some charity accounts quickly so that the crypto I earn gets put to real world uses by folks who need them. At the moment, my vote is worth about 3 cents when I'm fully charged. I can do better.
I've been expanding the range of posts to include Ecency so that I can squeeze a little more value from my writing and expand the community around me.
I've been doing a lot of research on tags over the last week and am building up a spreadsheet of the better tags to use and communities to be included in from a diy, gardening/food security point of view. When its proven to be accurate, I'll publish it for free here on Hive so keep an eye out!
