Spontaneity. I guess there are some moments in life that require us to just simply seize the moment without thinking about the past nor the future. And that's how I would like to describe my friend's recent birthday celebration— spontaneous. It was actually not a part of my weekend plan but my friend messaged me and I could not say no to a celebration of life. I just simply seized the moment.
My friend together with his brother who is actually a friend of mine ventured off to Ayala Center Cebu, one of the malls here in the city. Actually, my friend invite some of our other friends as well but unfortunately, they could not join us due to some personal reasons and some had to isolate as well. The three of us actually did not have a plan in mind. We just thought of going on a food trip and just simply enjoy the rest of the day without a certain destination.
We reached the mall at around 4 in the afternoon and the mall was unusually quiet since it was not crowded as compared to a few months ago. My friend King craved for steak and so we went to an American restaurant, Bigby's then had our early dinner so that we could eat dessert afterwards. My friend's brother, Hero, ordered the best-seller, baby back ribs while King, the birthday celebrant ordered some skewers while I had my usual pasta, my all-time favorite Carbonara.
After our early dinner, we set forth on another adventure and that is by strolling around the mall. We did a bit of window shopping and retail therapy. It was not part of our plan but it sure is exciting to do things spontaneously. I have always been a person who enjoys planning things ahead because I did not want to get lost as I head towards my destination. But it's really fun to do quick detours.
Since the birthday celebrant considered himself as a "foodie" and wanted to try other dishes. We decided to head out to a food market located a few kilometers away from the mall. Sugbo Mercado is quite famous here in the city since there are different food stalls that serve a variety of dishes like Thai food, Indonesian food, and among others.
We felt so safe inside the food market because health protocols were implemented and they even controlled the entry of individuals so the place was not that crowded. We had to line up for a few minutes since the guard had to check our vaccination cards but we did not wait that long for we were able to enter after a short wait.
After our ice cream run, we decided to visit the nearest mall since my friends needed to do some groceries and we wanted to stroll around the mall as well. Prior to entering the mall, I told my friend that I would take photos of him so that he could have some good photos for his birthday. There were a lot of people around the area but we did not really care because we had fun and we just wanted to seize the moment because apparently it was a celebration of his life and all we wanted was for him to enjoy.
After our mini-photoshoot and doing some errands in the mall, my friend wanted Starbucks and so we ordered some drinks and food that we could bring on the way home. But before we went home, we stayed for a while to just lounge around.
I was honestly so grateful because I said yes to the spontaneous hangout because I really got to enjoy every moment because my friends were so spontaneous. I felt like we shared the same vibes. I am so grateful to my friend the birthday celebrant because I did not spend a single cent on that day. He was so generous because hepaid for all the food that we ate during our hangout. How I wish our other friends were able to join us as we celebrated his special day.
It was apparently time to go home since we had a curfew. We took some selfies while at the escalator en route to the parking lot.
Thank you so much for taking your time in going through my blog post. How about you? Have you attended any birthday celebrations lately? How was it? I hope you continue to enjoy life and seize every opportunity to be happy and have fun!
